    So I guess this forum (and max2play) is(/are) dead?!?

    Is there a link for this now?

    And also, I am still a bit puzzled by this discussion. What I THINK many of us would like to be able to do, is to tell Google Home what to do with our audio sound board through max2play. I, for instance, have a HifiBerry sound board connected to a a Niles SVL-6 ’speaker selector‘, which allows me to play music on any of the 5 pairs of (hard-wired) speakers that are connected to it throughout our house. So I would like to be able to tell LMS through a Google Home command to play a certain song or radio station on those speakers.

    This works great, for instance, through Plex for video (and I guess also for audio, but then only to play on network-connected devices). So I can just ask Google Home (through FlexTV) to play a certain movie or tv show (or even episode, or even a certain sport within that episode) just through a voice command. For a cool example, see here. Is something like this possible for max2play?

    Or even simpler – is there a way to tell Google Home to stream something through squeezer to max2play („Ok Google. Play song X on max2play“)?

    It seems to me that the real issue is not so much Google Chromecast, as Google Home, which is quickly starting to become the world’s leading digital assistant. I have max2play (on Raspberry Pi/HifiBerry Amp+) connected to a(n unfortunately still mechanical) speaker selector, and so I can now easily stream any music through our entire house. At a price that is much cheaper than putting Sonos speakers everywhere (although that’s only because we had the whole house re-wired for sound during our last major renovation). But so yes, I’d definitely be interested in being able to tell Google Home to play something through max2play.

    If you get the following error

    Couldn't untar App-cpanminus-1.7043.tar: 'Cannot allocate memory'
    'YAML' not installed, will not store persistent state
      MIYAGAWA/App-cpanminus-1.7043.tar.gz
      Had problems unarchiving. Please build manually

    , try
    curl -L http://cpanmin.us | perl - App::cpanminus --sudo

    I had almost given up on max2play because of this problem. But so today I tried burning a new version of max2play – only to find out that there was something wrong with my micro-sd card. I got a new one, installed max2play and bingo! – everything is working beautifully again (including the ethernet connection). I just figured I’d report back just in case anybody else runs into the same problem.

    Thanks Heiner. By activating my sound card, you mean in the Raspberry Settings? I just did that Amp+ Activated (just posting for others who nay have the same problem). And then I do indeed see hifiberry option in the advanced options of squeezelite. . Thanks also for specifying that we have to use different options (sysdefault and default) for different players!

    Thanks. Maybe it should have, but it didn’t. Not with the default settings. I even thought I had a defective car. But as soon as I switched to xbmc/kodi, it worked immediately. And just for myself and others – what are the other non-default‘ settings that we can use?
