I fixed it – this is a known issue with raspbian, maybe those excellent max2play people need to revisit how they set the fixed ip?

So I just added this to my /etc/dhcpcd.conf

# Custom static IP address for eth0.
interface eth0
static ip_address=192.168.0.5/24
static routers=192.168.0.1
static domain_name_servers=192.168.0.1
