Hi Mario,
Thanks for your response.
1. Yes, my screenshot shows my PC ( //HILARY10 ) under Network Devices. My /Music folder is the only shared folder on my PC and that is what my MacBook finds when I connect to the PC.
2. I implemented your suggestion, and it did have an effect — the error message changed to:
mount error(5): Input/output error Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)
3. I have deleted and replaced the file share many times! Using both HilaryN and hnayl (the latter is what Windows puts in the filesystem path, e.g. C:/Users/hnayl/Downloads) as user.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I’m having a problem getting my music folder mounted on Max2Play squeezebox. It used to work perfectly when my PC was running Windows-7 but since upgrading in January, I get this error:
mount error(112): Host is down Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page
Here is the link to a screenshot:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/8QkD72GbXuMjXseF7

The Host is not down because my MacBook connects to it immediately and opens the Music folder.

Version 2.45
Raspberry PI 2

I’d appreciate any advice you can offer.
thanks

I am listening to several radio stations one after the other — BBC4, WGBH, KCSM, JAZZ24 — when one stops, I start another, when that stops, I go back to the first, when that stops, I start a third one. And so on. Sometimes they play for a few minutes and stop, sometimes longer. This does not happen on other wifi applications, such as Netflix. Sometimes I „disconnect“ from max2play and then reconnect, and it works again.

thanks

Hi,
I’m having the same problems. Yesterday evening, each radio station I selected would play for a few minutes and then stop. I would switch back and forth between them but all did the same. I am looking at the same page as Dennis. Here is the Debug info for yesterday:

[18-09-13 03:59:16.4738] Slim::Utils::Scanner::Remote::__ANON__ (193) Error: Can’t connect to remote server to retrieve playlist for, http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s32163&formats=aac,ogg,mp3,wmpro,wma,wmvoice&partnerId=16&serial=f4276c20f3bb41fead043053822287ea: Couldn’t resolve IP address for: opml.radiotime.com.

What am I looking for?

Doesn’t work for me either.
LMS shows

88.5 | KQED-FM (National News)
88.5 | KQED-FM (National News)
32kbps CBR, MP3 Radio

And the time bar progresses, but my speakers just buzz.
It must be some kind of local blockage.

Hello,
I have a similar problem with 3 local radio stations that will not play. I am on the West Coast of USA. KQED. KPFA and KALW will not play. Other local stations (KCSM) play, and so does the BBC and stations in Boston and Los Angeles. It is a mystery to me!

cheers

Why „no connection“? It is connected and playing Internet radio this minute.

Hi Mohammad,
Thanks for clarifying. The version at the top right corner of my web interface is 2.42.
I do not see any errors at this time.

Hi Mohammad,
I burned the image <<m2p_rpi3_default_241_wps_autoexpand.img>> and installed it on 3/31/2017. Is there a newer one than that?
I don’t understand the difference between „4.4.41-v7+ SMP“ in the debug report and „Version 2.42“ printed at top right of each page in max2play web user interface.

Hi Mohammad,
No, I posted that I **tried** to do an update and it produced a message „did not succeed“ (and I included the detailed progress in my message). Then I noticed that the page says „version 2.42“ and asked if that means the update did in fact succeed, even though I received a notification that it did not.
Yes, it is confusing when the software says „did not succeed“ when it did succeed! 🙂

thanks

Mohammad,
I *DID* try to update Max2Play before posting. Read my post:
„So I open the Basic Settings tab and clicked on Update.“
And the results was „did not succeed.“
I don’t know if „version 4.3“ means I succeeded or not?

thanks

Hi Mohammad,
Thanks for replying. Yes, I tried to update through Settings / Reboot — I don’t know any other way to do it!
My Internet connection is good — I was playing Internet Radio before and after the „did not succeed“ message.
However, now I think maybe it did succeed, because the version at top right is „Version 2.42“ whereas the version I had installed was 2.41.

Hi Heiner,
Thank you for getting back. Good to know it works on your test device. However, it does not work on my device. Here is a screenshot

Sometimes the seconds start incrementing, 1-2-3, and then back to zero, but never any sound.

Hi Heimer,
You mean that in LMS, under „Radio“, I should paste the URL of my radio station, <http://tunein.com/radio/KPFA-941-s34653/> ?
Yes, I have tried that several times and the station appears in the right-side panel but no sound and the timeline (is that what it is called?) bar increments for a few seconds and then resets to 0:00.
Please keep in mind that when I first install Max2Play a few weeks ago, I chose the „Basic“ set-up and the MPD Player. With that player, all radio stations played just fine (using YMPD).

regards,
Hilary

Hi std,

>can you copy the Url from TuneIn into the SBS?
>
Yes, I tried that before. You mean under the „Radio“ folder, right? (where the top item is „MyPresets“ and the bottom is „Tune in URL“). I took the KPFA URL <http://tunein.com/radio/KPFA-941-s34653/> and pasted into „Tune in URL“, added to Current Playlist, and then clicked „Play“ — no sound. The timer increments for 5 secs and then resets to 0.

>did you find this option to switch the radiomenu to TuneIn?
>
Yes, my TuneIn Favorites appear under „MyPresets“. The 3 I mentioned above (KPFA, KQED and KALW) still do not play.

So the question is, what is the difference between my set-up and yours, that you can play KPFA and I cannot?

thanks

Hi std,
Tunein was trying to sell me a Premium account — that’s why I thought I would have to pay. I have a free account now.
„a little bit tricky“!?!? How is anyone supposed to know how to do that? (no need to answer that)
I am very encouraged by the fact that you can play KPFA (not only because it is a great station!) because I still cannot get it to play, even though it is now in MyPresets under Internet Radio like you said. There are 3 non-commercial stations in our area that we like to listen to: KPFA, KQED (San Francisco 88.5FM) and KALW (San Francisco 91.7FM). All other stations — local, or Los Angeles or Boston — play. There must be something those 3 have in common that is a problem. I hope we can solve it! I paste the information from SBS Settings below in the hopes it might give you an idea.
Here’s something I noticed about KPFA: If I listen to it on TuneIn, the URL is http://tunein.com/radio/KPFA-941-s34653/ , but when I am in SBS and save it from MyPresets to Favorites, the URL is http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s34653&formats=aac,ogg,mp3,wmpro,wma,wmvoice&partnerId=16&serial=f4276c20f3bb41fead043053822287ea — I don’t understand why it is different.
However, I looked at a station that DOES play, and again compared the TuneIn URL to the Favorites URL, and it is similar –opml.radiotime.com. So maybe that doesn’t mean anything?

thanks
Hilary

Hi std,
Your English is fine! 🙂
1) what version do I use: how would I know? The Squeezebox Server tab in Max2Play does not give the version number anywhere that I can see. However, your instructions say to install 7.9 nightly, so that is what I did.
2) no, I do not use those radio stations. In LMS, under Radio, I use Search to find my station (or Local, FM). I enter KPFA and get a long list, but they are all programs at the same station — Pacifica Radio Berkeley 94.1 — and I choose „Play“ for the top of the list. The right-hand side of the screen shows
KPFA
64kbps CBR, MP3 Radio
and the time-line progresses, and there is no sound. I assume this is what you mean by „problem of SqueezeboxServer“?

I looked at Tunein Radio, but it offers a free trial and then it seems you have to pay for a subscription. Is that what I have to do? So I created an account at Tunein. I looked at the list of plugins in LMS (SBS) Settings and cannot find Tunein.

Myharmony appears to be selling remote control devices, nothing to do with radio stations.

3) In the plugins list, I saw Pandora, so I clicked on „Logitech“ and set it up with my account. It appears under MyApps in LMS but when I click on it I get an error „You must be a subscriber to use Pandora from this device.“ What else do I need to do?

thanks
Hilary

Hi,
A new question, in addition to the above: I’ve been looking at the wikipage on „power as a source of error“. It says the requirement for
Raspberry Pi 2 / 3 and HiFiBerry AMP+ is 6A / 12V
I have the MEANWELL GS60A18-P1J that is sold by HiFiBerry for the AMP+ but its specs are 3.33 A / 18 V (60W max). Is this a possible problem? Too few amps? I know that the R-Pi on its own requires 5 V / 2.5 A and if one uses one with less amps, there are problems.

thanks
Hilary

26. Dezember 2016 at 21:29 #25245

Hi,
I hope I have the correct translation to English, and understanding that you wish to install a R-Pi as music player instead of your PC. You mentioned „touchscreen“ so I want to say that you do not need this expense if you use max2play because you access the Pi remotely from your PC.
I agree the Pi+Max2Play is a good approach when one wants to have a music library on an external HD, but for me, the external HD is connected to my PC, and the network access from the Pi does not work consistently. Sometimes it appears under /mnt/mpd and sometimes not.

regards,
Hilary

21. Dezember 2016 at 6:39 #25096

Some progress: Everything froze up, so I re-imaged the SDcard. Previously, on the Start page I had chosen „Basic“. This time I really wanted to use the Squeezebox Server because the mobile app is much better. So I chose „Advanced“. This got it working properly (for a time!). I think you should have told me to go back to the Start page and change to Advanced, as it doesn’t work properly to install Squeezebox after choosing Basic.

I still have a problem accessing /mnt/mpd. All the folders and music was listed for a couple of days, but now LMS says the folder is Empty.

And radio stations are random, some work, and some don’t. Previously, with MPD Player/YMPD I was able to play my local stations KQED, KPFA, KALW. Now with LMS, none of those will play. However, other local stations such as KCSM and KDFC do play. What is the difference, and how do I fix it?

I see there is an update for LMS available — should it be installed? If so, how and by whom?

thanks
Hilary

17. Dezember 2016 at 4:33 #24953

Also, I found that after the above error, I cannot get back to the Settings/Reboot page without manually restarting the Pi (ie, pulling the plug!)

15. Dezember 2016 at 20:24 #24907

I found this under Raspberry Settings:

Enable High-Resolution Audio on HDMI
(set to default)
Activate 192Khz sample rate and 32Bit encoding for soundoutput through HDMI. Important: Set Alsa-Parameter for Squeezelite on page Audioplayer to „::16:0“ (fix bitrate to 16 and disable MMAP) if you get no sound at all or crackling sound!

Could this be applicable even if it is set to default?

Yes, MPD Player is playing. At least it was yesterday. Today I get this error:

Trying to launch … NOT successful Click here to show detailed information
/etc/init.d/mpd: 57: /etc/init.d/mpd: log_daemon_msg: not found
Check for running Kodi
Dec 15 19:22 : socket: Failed to bind to ‚[::]:6600‘: Address already in use
/etc/init.d/mpd: 87: /etc/init.d/mpd: log_end_msg: not found

This is after I stopped Squeezebox and Squeezelite and updated Max2Play.
Maybe I need to start again from scratch?! Is there a new version of Max2Play to download and re-image the SDcard?

thanks
Hilary

Yes, it is selected. And has been throughout this conversation. Still no playback.

I do see the max2play player, except it is in the upper right corner of the web interface (the Logitech Media Server). Is there some way I can send you a screeshot, if that would help?

Hello,
Still no sound using Squeezebox Server. I did get MPD Player running again (plays radio stations, but my music in the /mnt/mpd folder does not appear).
Now when I stop MPD and un-check the „run at startup“, and
start Squeezebox server (Status: Squeezebox Server is running with processID 1274) and
start Squeezelite (Status: Squeezelite is running with processID 1600) and
open the Squeezebox Wed Administration, and
choose a radio station,
it appears to play (time increments on play bar) but no sound.

Please advise.

Hilary
