From the lan I mean, sorry typo !

    11. Januar 2016 at 21:43 #17756

Also, I can’t see it on my lawn scanner now, and I „generally“ do as its attached to the lan

And I did try it unattached to the lam too and still don’t see it

Hi noop, sorry got carried away listening to the sad news about David Bowie, what a great loss for everyone
Very sad, and he only released his new album last Friday

Ok, I’ve done all you asked, and I rebooted before I started again, and still got the same answer as last time

    nl80211 not found

And it couldn’t see it last night, maybe I ought to burn another image and with another image maker and see what happens

As that is the only thing that’s been in common with all this, from October last year I’ve been stuck, and never tried another image maker

    Hi noop
Sorry for the break in transmission 🙂

Ok I have done that and the last line was or is

    Nl80211 not found….

There could be good reason, I may have got the „l“ mixed up with the „1“
To be honest visually I honestly can’t see a difference

So maybe (really sorry noop) if you could let me know
The perl, is that in pearL is a letter and and in n180211 are all numbers,

Also I did my image ( well all of them)with win 32 image maker

    Hi Noop

Sorry for not picking this up last night, I thought you’d finished

Anyhowo, I am at work and noticed this on a forum, could be worth noting

„“Using the Edimax wifi adapter on the RPi has a known issue of going to sleep. You need to add module options in /etc/modules.d/ to prevent that. Google it for details.““

And as soon as I get in I’ll fire up the pi and run the above and let you know, you have to admit its all very weird

Sorry noop, just tried to connect to the touch, iPad and iPhone and they can’t see it

And I did have my lan cable attached
I have just taken it off and still they can’t see it

    10. Januar 2016 at 23:44 #17706

Noop, I’m sure you will know this, but as you can’t see it, I’ll mention it

    The prompt is sat on

    Pi@max2play /usr/sbin $

    10. Januar 2016 at 23:38 #17704

Oops it couldn’t run the iw wlan0 command

    10. Januar 2016 at 23:37 #17703

Ok, it looked like the text when we started tonight when I mentioned Rates, rtl871x

It has just ran almost identical script

Last line of that was wlan0: set up of interface done

Do you need to know anything else on there ?

    10. Januar 2016 at 23:09 #17700

I really really appreciate how difficult this must be if you’re not seeing this stuff in front of you noop

As you only have me to facilitate this to you
but you have blown me away with your skills as this is all on the hoof so to say been passed on by me..

Sorry, just has to let you know how I appreciate this

    10. Januar 2016 at 23:06 #17699

Noop, 2nd line has come back with
Can’t rename /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf to /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf.org: permission denied skipping file

    10. Januar 2016 at 22:59 #17698

Hahaha, great here goes, just give me a few mins !

    10. Januar 2016 at 22:28 #17696

When I put the web address in, it comes up with a bash error saying it can’t access it, and I have my Pi hardwired to the router

    10. Januar 2016 at 22:27 #17695

    The demseg
    It gives 3 group listings

    First group is options
    C = clear
    c = read clear

    Etc etc

    The second group

    Supported log facilities
    Kern- kernel messages
    Etc

    The third is

    Supported log levels

    Emerg – system is unusable

    Etc

There’s about 10 lines in each group

    10. Januar 2016 at 22:05 #17693

The three packages I think has been installed are
    Wireless-regdb

    Crda

    And

    iw

    10. Januar 2016 at 22:03 #17692

    Hi noop

    That’s better, thanks

Ok it came back to say the following packages will be installed
Crda iw wireless regdb and warned me it would take 276kb of disk space, did I want to proceed , I said yes

So it ran an onscreen script, I then out the other command in and it came back with
    nl80211 not found

Was this the error you were hoping for

    10. Januar 2016 at 21:39 #17690

    Hi Noop

    Oh dear

Just entered the first line and it returned

E:Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock – open (13: Permission denied)
E: unable to lock the administration directory ( var/lib/dpkg/), are you root

I continued to input the second line and got this

    -bash: iw command not found

    A

    10. Januar 2016 at 20:17 #17688

    Hi noop,

    It’s yes, its 2.26

    10. Januar 2016 at 18:35 #17686

NOW THAT KNE THING I AM GETTING AN EXPERT IN DOING HAHAHAH

    10. Januar 2016 at 18:35 #17685

Yep just hung again, maybe I have put something in there that’s wrong and it’s buggered it up

I can burn a new image and start again if you like noop, won’t take long ?

    10. Januar 2016 at 18:29 #17684

    Hi noop,
A couple of things going on

I ran the two lines you asked me to and it worked. When I came back to it the second line is not running the results (script)
    It’s just saying
    ioctl[RTL_IOCTL_HOSTAPD]: invalid argument
Even if I try to exit the programme the way you told me it won’t let me it’s just hanging, so I just rebooted ( powered down) several times

The other thing is, sorry for sounding dumb, but what do you mean when you mean look at the the output for problems . The worry is due to the limited knowledge I have on this on the best I can do it tell you any obvious errors and those that don’t match your script or when it tells me.

Hope this makes sense noop, in the meantime, I’m going to input those two lines again, and I did try and use the q ctrl code but as its hanging it’s not letting me

Sorry, I sent this as I didn’t want to loose txt again

There is also a block of

    rt1871x_set_key_ops

But nothing close to your n180211n Noop

This is bitter sweet I hope ( bet you do to)
    1. That it’s not identical to yours and two because it’s not you may have nailed it !
I guess ( hahahah and it’s only a guess) you’re checking the wireless here, if so, I’m obviously learning something from you

Ok, I have just come out and switched off as there’s not anything more I can do.
But I just can’t thank you enough for your help noop

Morning noop, well I needed that.

I fetched the laptop, and tried the touch again, just to make sure, still no joy on that

So I’ve run the command you sent and to be honest the ONLY thing which is the same or close to yours is your last two lines of yours, they are identical

    I have a block of
    RATE [0] rate=10
All the way to rate [11]

I have taken a photo just in case I need to ref

    10. Januar 2016 at 3:30 #17676

    10. Januar 2016 at 3:26 #17673

It’s happened again, I wrote that it’s 1:20 here in the UK and I have been up since 5:45 and my eyes

    10. Januar 2016 at 3:24 #17672

    Sorry noop
It’s lost some of my words

I will pop to work in the morning and get the laptop and let you know the results. But I hope you will not be offended if I say goodnight, or good morning more like

    10. Januar 2016 at 3:18 #17670

    Hi NOOP

It should be working, wow as for checking it, I do have a laptop but it’s at work but what I will do is go and pick it up in the morning

    Also

    In wlan0 2nd line I have
    Mode:Managed Frequency 2.437. ACCESPOINT 00:50:7F:A9:E9:AB

    Not mode:master ?

Also I have retry off, while yours is short limit 7, is this relevant ?

I have just rebooted it and just remembered I have a touch, so just went to see if the touch could see it, sorry again it can’t
