As of July 20th 2017 Spotify will remove the Spotify app from the squeezebox platform.
http://www.mysqueezebox.com/byeByeSpotifyI’m not affiliated with Spotify or Logitech, I just received this message on the Spotify app.
I don’t know if this actually affects max2play player with third party apps (I’m using the official app with the library plugin). If indeed the Spotify app is removed, I will have to rethink my music player, as max2play with spotify runs warm. We have a 7″ touchscreen that the kids can search for music on and they love it, as well as me. Sure, we can use airplay or spotify connect, but we really don’t wanna be tied to having phones around the house. The touchscreen just sits there non detachable, and the kids just leave it alone when the music is playing, whereas the phones they just wanna carry around and fiddle with, obviously. Might sound silly, but it’s a big deal for us.
Any input? Will triodes app still work, for example?
12. Juli 2017 at 20:52 #29902Hi dumtratt,
Thanks for pointing this issue out in detail.
We have already taken steps to ensure that all Max2Play users will continue to be able to use Spotify fully and in the way they are used to.
The new LMS Spotify plugin „Spotty“ by mherger of the slimdevices forums has been successfully tested and circumvents the issues caused by Spotify pulling their support. You can install the plugin easily in the LMS web interface under Settings -> Plugins -> at the bottom of the page you can add new repositories. Add this one which includes mherger’s Spotty: http://www.herger.net/slim-plugins/test.xml
For detailed info on the plugin and what to mind when installing it, head to his introduction thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107418-The-Spotty-Spotify-implementationThe other solution is one we developed ourselves based on the Spotify Connect system. Here is the plugin page on our website where you can find more infos and the install link for the Max2Play Plugin: https://www.max2play.com/en/portfolio/plugin-spotify-connect-2/
(I hope it’s okay that I edited your topic to reassure our users, if not let me know and I’ll remove it)
19. Juli 2017 at 18:07 #29993Hi,
Works like a charm for me. 1 important thing: i had to add „http://www.herger.net/slim-plugins/repo.xml“ to install Spotty. Thanks for the solution.
23. Juli 2017 at 11:48 #30049Hi again!
I tried installing it now and it says to install Perl module IO::Socket:SSL.. just a regular apt-get in a console?23. Juli 2017 at 12:58 #30054Nevermind, did a reinstall of LMS and now it seems to work. I’d like the spotty app on the first menu page though, is that doable?
