    Hi All,

I have installed a Bluetooth Dongle. Disabled onboard bluetooth, Rebooted the system but see the below error in bluetooth status.

    sudo service bluetooth status
    ● bluetooth.service – Bluetooth service
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/bluetooth.service; disabled; vendor preset: enabled)
Active: active (running) since Fri 2023-01-27 18:36:10 CET; 8min ago
    Docs: man:bluetoothd(8)
    Main PID: 498 (bluetoothd)
    Status: „Running“
    Tasks: 1 (limit: 1942)
    CGroup: /system.slice/bluetooth.service
    └─498 /usr/lib/bluetooth/bluetoothd

    Jan 27 18:36:16 LivingRoom bluetoothd[498]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.17 path=/A2DP/MPEG24/Sink/1
    Jan 27 18:36:16 LivingRoom bluetoothd[498]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.17 path=/A2DP/SBC/Source/1
    Jan 27 18:36:16 LivingRoom bluetoothd[498]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.17 path=/A2DP/SBC/Sink/1

And yes when scanning it was not able to find any devices.
This is the device i am using -> https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-Bluetooth-Multiple-Receiver-UB500/dp/B09C25VRXD

EDIT – I have checked with TPLINK UB400 which seems to be working. Updated Realtex firmware but UB500 dongle starts sucessfully but no device is able to discover M2P. I am now using External Wifi adapter dongle with powered USB hub and onbaord bluetooth.

    Hi vishnu,

Is the dongle compatible with Linux/Raspberry Pi and does it have a corresponding driver? If so, you may have to install the driver manually if it is not included in the Raspberry Pi kernel. The manufacturer of the dongle should help you with this.

    Thank you MarioM,

Well UB500 dongle lists that it is only compatible with Windows and has a windows driver to download as it’s based on a Realtek chipset !

However UB400 dingle from same vendor to lists it’s only compatible with windows and based on Cambridge silicon radio chipset ! It worked straight out of the box though on my M2P device !!!

In this case, a driver that works with the UB400 is probably included in the kernel. It always depends on the dongle and the driver. If the UB500 does not work out-of-the-box, a suitable driver must be installed manually.
