There is a new fix for Infrared remote control with Max2Play. Since our newest update with the new Raspbian Kernel 4.19, the IR integration by Raspberry Pi was changed. Both the general LIRC package, which we built our integration on, and the Raspberry Pi driver in the dtoverlay were updated.
We have now published a new beta update that address these changes for anyone, both with older and newer images of Max2Play. Here are the details of the update’s changes:
-> Integration of new LIRC 0.9.4
-> Inclusion of new driver gpio-ir in dtoverlay
-> Fixes plugin JustBoom, for dedicated JustBoom IR support)
-> Fixes plugin Hardware Control for general IR remote integration and custom mapping
This update will also go live in our next version of Max2Play 2.49
Here’s what you need to do to get the new fix right now:
1. Make a Beta Update with the button in Settings/Reboot
2. Reboot Max2Play
3. Select your IR integration of choice from the JustBoom or Hardware Control Plugin
4. Reboot Max2Play
5. Your Max2Play can now be controlled by an infrared remote
Attention: The default mapping of Max2Play’s infrared integrations is for the JustBoom IR remote. If you want to use a different remote, make sure your mappings are edited accordingly. You can use tools like irrecord to create new mappings for the buttons on your remote and add them to our editable scripts in the plugins.
