Reposting help request in this new thread as old thread where I originally posted this problem said „SOLVED“in the title, perhaps that is why I did not get an answer? The problem is that I cannot get audio output from Kodi to my DAC and amp, only via HDMI to my TV.

I have a Audiophonics I-Sabre V3, I have been using it for 2 years. Originally I got audio output from Kodi by setting my DAC type to sysdefault_hifiberry, which was not very intuitive, but it worked. However it stopped working a while ago, presumably with an update.

In Rasberry settings I have „Disable Build-In-Audio“ check box ticked, and Squeezelite is stopped. However I do not see my soundcard or sysdefault_hifiberry listed in Kodi Audio Settings, only 3 x Pi and 2 x ALSA settings. The PI HDMI options send audio to my TV by HDMI as you would expect, no output received with either ALSA option selected.

I have my DAC specified in settings as Audiophonics I-Sabre V3, but I cannot get Kodi to recognise it. How do I enable Kodi audio via my DAC and amp again please?

Reviving this 2 year old thread as once again I cannot get audio from Kodi to play through my dacv and amp. It was working fine but now it does not, presumably after a M2P or KODI update

In Rasberry settings I have Disable Build-In-Audio check box ticked, but I do not see my soundcard or sysdefault_hifiberry listed in Kodi Audio Settings, only 3 x Pi and 2 x ALSA settings. The PI HDMI options send audio to my TV by HDMI as you would expect, no output received with either ALSA option selected.

n.b. I have my DAC specified in settings as Audiophonics I-Sabre V3, not sysdefault_hifiberry as before. I do not see this option now, just lots of specific hifiberry options.

How do I enable Kodi audio via my DAC and amp again please?

    Hallo,

    vg Stefan

    Hello everybody,
first of all, I love your product. A very nice way to build a controlable multiroom player. But I’ve got still some issues here.

I want a multiroom setup where the server is in the kitchen (and configurated fine already) and a another in the livingroom for music from server’s squeezebox and Kodi from itself.

    Setup
    Raspberry 3 B+
    HifiBerry AMP2
–> bought as a bundle from your shop
    M2P licence

    Problem 1:
Get passive speakers to work with AMP2. Is there a way to check if Hifiberry’s AMP2 is sending sound to the output (just to make sure it’s not a problem with the speaker), because till now I couldn’t get my speaker to play a sound?

    Problem 2:
If Kodi streams to screen via HDMI I still want to hear the sound from the passive speakers.
So I assume I have to change standard output when HDMI is connected in Raspberry settings. But only standard (HDMI), jack and HDMI are available in the drop down menu.
Well, I now assume to disable raspberry’s internal on-board sound. –> If doing so, squeezelite stops working and cannot be re-started.
Do I have to change settings in the extended audioplayer menu?

I already tried several setups, always with the newest image from your homepage and with newest M2P version. Do kernel and package updates help? I sometimes did that but often appear problems when terminal is updating Apache2.
I already got up a working multiroom setup when choosing ’none‘ as Raspberry’s soundcard and put earphones in the RP’s jack plug. That works fine.

But I want to use AMP2’s passive speaker outputs.
    Any help welcome!!
    Thanks a lot!

    Hallo Heiner,

    Hi danilu,

Thanks for sharing, please let us know when you have another update and when you try a fresh install of Max2Play, please follow these steps:
    – Select HiFiBerry
    – Select AMP2 (reboot)
    – Start Kodi
    – Select audio output
    – If no hifiberry option appears, deactivate build in audio in Raspberry Settings, reboot and start Kodi again

    Hallo Heiner!

Disable Build in Audio Haken gesetzt
Enable I2S-MMAP (Mixerdevice for Soundcards) Haken gesetzt

OK I have done all that, my m2p is now activated again. Also if I hit Update Max2Play I get the message „Running Check for Plugin Updates and install if available. Max2Play is up to date – no update required“ So I clearly have a connection to your server. However the Health Checker is still red saying „Internet: NO Connection“. All very strange!

Perhaps this is also why Kodi is buffering so much?

I will continue to investigate, if you have any ideas to help me diagnose the problem please advise.

    Hi Nojelc,

Might be an issue with Kodi and the plugin’s compatibilities and updates. If possible, try using a fresh Max2Play based on Stretch and see if the issue persists there in the BBC plugin. Make sure you have a backup of your current installation though.

The first of the 246 posts in that thread talks about kodi release 18.
Since I am not a kodi programmer and just want a stable platform will wait until max2play updates to version 18, hopefully soon

    Hallo,
ALSA: Default (bmc2835 ALSA bmc 2835 ALSA)
    PI: HDMI
    PI: Analoge
    PI: HDMI and Analogue

    Schwierigkeiten
    – ListenLiveEU ergibt ERROR /invalid params

Choose Kodi/XBMC-Package by http-link (package must be .deb) for Update:

    Hallo Heiner

Hi all, I’m new to max2play and could not find an answer to this but apologies if this has already been asked/solved…
When I switch to kodi through the options in Jivelite all looks good to start with. However when playing video the Jivelite interface shows in the background above and below the video playback area in what should be black areas. I’ve tried setting the screensavers but can’t figure out how to fix this. Can anyone help please?

    UPDATE:
Have reset Jivelite settings and restarted and problem no longer persists. Jivelite is no longer returning when exiting kodi now though.

    Hallo,

We added a new repo for PVR clients including IPTV in the newest beta. Make a beta update and then check the Max2Play Kodi menu for it.

    Hi,
I’m trying to set up M2P as an access point with kodi but having a few problems.
I have done several „reinstalls“ and still the same issue, well more or less.
I’ve have had two issues while trying to get this to work.
    1. My phone would see the accesspoint via the control/wifi, then it would just drop out of the wifi screen.
    2. Now my phone sees the accesspoint and it stays connected but now its coming up with the message „ip configuration failure, authenticaion problem.

I have not set up the wifi/lan part of M2P, nor got the players running, well except for kodi and I’m just hooked directly into the router.
Hope someone out there can help. Thanks
    EDIT
Update….Since my last posting I have just ripped my Pi birdcam to bits and burnt another „new image“ and its doing exactly the same as above, my phone still can’t connect to M2P but I did get this while trying to install the accesspoint again

„The following packages have unmet dependencies:

    Hallo zusammen,

    a) HDMI
    b) Analog

    =======
    Hello everybody,

under Kodi, JustBoom is not available for selection on the device monitor under the audio settings, only
    a) HDMI
    b) Analog
    c) HDMI and analog
    – no further entries

The kernel is updated as instructed (System info on device monitor: 4.14.44 V7 +)

Under Hardware information, the JustBoom is NOT displayed on the device monitor. Is that correct, or should it appear there?

Obviously the JustBoom is not recognized by the system !?

What am I doing wrong, what to do?

Hi, I used to have a standalone M2P in my car using the accesspoint module and Squeezer to play the tracks.
I did an update, this was sometime ago and it never worked reliably again.Which I do understand why, I think.
So I decided that I would like to try again using the built in Kodi M2P has.

Bottom line is I put it in the car after setting things up, and hey it worked via my android, via the Kode app.

So off I went in my car to the shop. I got back in the car tried to connect and there was no way it was going to connect, then the penny dropped. Had this been picking up my home wifi and somehow controlling Kodi that way.
So I drove home, pulled up on the drive and yes, that is what was happening.
My question is now, can this actually work as a true standalone system…
Maybe I should buy a travel router and try and set it up with that.Any help at all would be very very much appreciated by me and I’m sure many others, cheers

    Hi nick,

Kodi comes preinstalled, so there is no need to install it. Upgrading is also not necessary as our newest image has the most up to date version, while older versions have the correct version Kodi to work with it. I assume updated an older wheezy-based system (RPi development has by now jumped from jessie to stretch, which is the most current version) to a version of Kodi that is not compatible with it anymore.

Depending on how much you have set up on your wheezy image, I would recommend burning our new image.

There’s a „solved“ thread possibly dealing with this, but I don’t read german, so apologies for any duplication.

I installed the Kodi plugin a long time back on my RaspberryPiB+, but never used it. Now I want to, but can’t get it to work. I’ve updated both m2p and Kodi to latest versions and checked my hdmi settings, but all to no avail.

The first time I tried to update Kodi, I got this read-out:

    Restart Desktop-Manager completed (initialized Display)
Trying to launch ... successful with ID 29712
    Status: Kodi (Video) not running

This is one of several instances where launch was reported successful with an ID number, but ‚Status‘ remained stubbornly „not running“

Most of the time my display screen has stayed blank, but after one Kodi restart attempt I got a Raspberry boot-up screed, ending with a login prompt. I noticed that while almost all the lines were [Ok], there was one warning:

[warning] kernel lacks cgroups or memory controller not available ...

Rebooting and restarting Kodi a third or fourth time I got this:

Trying to launch ... NOT successful Click here to show detailed information
    Status: Kodi (Video) not running

    At least it’s consistent!

But when I clicked on the „show detailed information“ link, nothing happened. I tried right-clicking and opening in a new tab, which opened another copy of the ‚Kodi/XBMC – Status, Start & Stop‘ page, but which contained this:

    `Kodi / XBMC – Status, Start & Stop

I’m very confused. Could someone kindly assist?

    Hi chrimoe,

    – Our plugins are not connected to Kodi’s plugins. You need to update or install Kodi plugins in the Kodi web interface and in our Kodi menu, not Settings/Reboot.
    – CEC off is also in Kodi’s own interface settings.
    – Your connection issue can be due to a myriad of reasons, please offer more information on your setup so I can understand what the issue might be.
    – As mentioned before, we have no experience or expertise with specific Kodi plugins. You are best advised to ask about those in a Kodi forum.

    Hello everybody,
    hello Heiner,
unfortunately I have to reopen my issue.

But I’m one step further: I have dedected, that the boot sequence can’t start or have problems to start the (Pulse) CEC adapter. So, I think, the rasp pi & justboom isn’t booted correctly.

At kodinerds I have read to update the libCEC. So I have downloaded the newest version and tried to install that as a plugin with m2p menue „Einstellungen / Reboot“. and so I get the always known error: Controller OR View Files are missing in the Plugin – Install canceled

Plugin Installer ERROR!

At kodinerds I have read this problem can solve with a switch off of CEC. But I can’t find such a configuration possibilty in the web interface.

Further notice: I can’t connect to the device (rasp pi & justboot) over the web interface with the url: //max2play, the device don’t appear as a network device in the fritz box! So I have to put the sd with the m2p immage into an other rasp pi to connect.

This error message appears too, if I try to install a plugin for amazon prime (music). For this issue I want to remember to an earlier post from me.

    What is going wrong?

Hi, I updated Max2Play and Kodi and got a lot of problems. I had to revert to an old version. Everything but Logitech Media server is running properly. It doesn’t matter which version (nightly 9, 7.7.4, 7.7.5 and I might have tried more) one I install on my Pi 2, I cannot connect to the Web user interface. I cannot connect to it at all. Not from Ipeng, three different web browser or by clicking „Open squeezebox server administration“ in Max2Play’s web user interface.

When I try to update the Radio it says I allready have the latest software. 7.7.3r16676 but I can’t find that deb-file anywhere so I cannot install it in Max2Play. But it doesn’t matter since I can’t access any of the other versions anyway.

Can anyone help me with this?

    Dear Heiner,

When I install the official Rasbian all is okay (just screen upside down, but thats okay)…

On the page RPi-Display Touchscreen Setup
Max2Plauy It notifies me in the webpage of: RPi Display is installed: 7″ Touchdisplay
    -Rotate display of Touchscreen Enabled
    -LCD as Default Display Enabled
    -Kodi Mouse 1-Click Enabled
-Remove Cursor (e.g. mouse pointer) Disabled, I have to use the mouse due to the messed up touch, so i have that now disabled to hide it, but does not change anything.

    When I click Debug-Info it is empty…

Also I updated Max2Play to the newest version
    Version 2.45
    Raspberry PI 3
    License Activated
Also Kodi has been updated to 2:17.4-2~jessie
Kodi only worked after updating Max2Play to this version.

I also tried updating the plugins, deleting settings of display gives error
    Display related settings removed
rm: cannot remove ‘/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-fbturbo.conf’: No such file or directory rm: cannot remove ‘/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-ads7846-cal.conf’: No such file or directory

It’s just that I’m a total noob when it comes to Linux (commandline)…

    Dear experts,

Recently I also started building a HifiBerry setup using the Raspberry Pi 3B, HifiBerry Amp 2 and the official 7″ display running Max2Play.
After doing all the updates and tweaks Kodi now runs fine. Im still having trouble making Bluetooth audio imput working but my biggest hurdle at the moment is to make the touchscreen work.

I cannot find any subject about the official 7″ screen, but lots of subjects about people using their own 5″ screen.

My problem is that whatever skin i use on Max2Play, the lower 20% of the screen has no touch and the touch is also off, the more i go down the more off it is… Im bad at commandline and there were some video’s about people calibrating their 5″ unofficial screen.
A friend of my tested the screen on his regular raspbian setup and it worked 100% out of the box!!!!

So, what could be the problem? I suppose it is with Max2Play? Does anybody have the same problem? And how can I fix this?
I’m a premium member, so i hope this includes this support?!

    Thanks in advance!

    Kind regards,

    Joeri
