Hi,
I contacted Hifiberry support.
To get this to work, you have to add/change the following to/in the /etc/mpd.conf

audio_output {
type „alsa“
name „sysdefault:CARD=sndrpihifiberry“
mixer_type „software“
}

As the Hifiberry Mini Amp does not support either Digital or Hardware (or Master) volume control via ALSA.
