As I presume, the answer is we need to quote the user variable in the command.

Suggestion, can you quote username in spotifyconnect/controller/Setup.php at line 104:

$parameter[] = '--username '.$_REQUEST['username'];

to :

$parameter[] = '--username '."\"".$_REQUEST['username']."\"";
