I’m new to max2play and linux. I’ve installed Max2Play using the install script from the repository on my ubuntu VMware server. I have 6 USB sound cards attached to this VM. I would like to easily install LMS, squeezelite, and shairport, which is why I’ve been looking for something like max2play.
After install, the max2play web interface comes up. My two problems are:
1) Editing the squeezelite audioplayer shows a blank sound card list
2) LMS is running, but the web interface doesn’t respondAny ideas how I can troubleshoot these? As soon as I can get the audio player to work, I plan to purchase max2play for the multisqueeze plugin and more. Thanks.

21. Dezember 2015 at 17:51 #17429Hi dangerusty,
Thanks for your post.
I cannot assist you with this problem because your setup is very special and far away from the hardware Max2Play is adapted to and tested with, sorry. We only offer a default driver for USB-DACs that sometimes works and sometimes not. But nevertheless, try to go forward. Maybe somebody else has an idea? You could also ask for help in other forums for VMware servers and C-Media USB-DACs.Maximilian from Max2Play
21. Dezember 2015 at 18:03 #17430I spent some time this weekend and found that when it tried to run „squeezelite -l“ for the debug screen, it was from /opt/, where my squeezelite was not installed. I copied the binary over and that started to work. As far as the squeezebox server, I think I just installed different versions from the web interface until it worked. Also, the startup scripts were using „sudo -u odroid“, when I had no user named „odroid“. I changed those to my own user name and they worked. These could be improvements for your install script, if this type of use is in scope.
I’ve since bought the premium version and installed multisqueeze. I can’t get multisqueeze to start any of the squeezelite instances from the web interface (can’t find an error message), but I can run the /var/www/max2play/../multisqueeze script successfully. Everything works beautifully.
Also, the shairtunes install caused my sound cards to disappear. After much troubleshooting, I got them to return using this: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure#Step_1
One last question: Can I start up more than 6 squeezelite instances? I have 8 zones, and I usually set up 8 squeezelites for music, and 8 more for my doorbell chimes from my home automation system.
15. Januar 2016 at 16:08 #17909Hi dangerusty,
We do not recommend running more than 3 instances of Squeezelite on a normal Raspberry Pi 2. We do not have a known limit for Odroids. Although it is possible, the output can suffer from that many simultaneous instances. For this we recommend using multiple Raspberry Pi’s since their cost, power usage and size is so small that its more advantageous to use more Pi’s for more players.
